Here you will find the catalogue of Skateboard Decks customised by 25 different artists available for auction on the 27th of Sept.

25 artists have generously donated their time and their talent to decorate a 27 skateboards so that we can auction them off to raise money to fund the regeneration of our local skatepark. Deck No.1 by Elliott Godden

Elliott Godden A.K.A. The Bad Apple Company, is an artist from Bromley, South London.
Initially inspired by surf and skate culture, and artists such as Jim Phillips and Max Loeffler he creates digital prints, acrylic canvases, and large scale mural work. Common themes include messages of spirituality, anti-conformity and living life to the edge.
He hopes to inspire other artists to make the world a more beautiful place the way these artists did for him.

“I’m a tattooist from Brighton, and for many years my spare time has been spent painting decks as a side job, and manufacturing skateboards with @htownskates based in Hastings.

I spent my teenage years living at skateparks, particularly Crawley. The history of skating became an obsession from a young age, whilst causing mischief with my brother (before the internet) – We’d essentially try to re-create Jackass, so you can imagine the times we had…
I’m so proud to be a part of this project. I think skating/skateparks are such a healthy way (not only physically but socially) for people of all ages to be spending their time. I incorporate skating into a lot of my tattoos. I once cried when Steve Caballero commented on an Animal Chin tattoo I did, probably one of the greatest moments of my career – showing how the impact of the skating world can live in your blood even when you reach the ripe old age of 31!”

Deck No.3 – Welcome to Beech Grove by Anthony Atkinson

“I love messing about with pencils, brushes and ink. In fact any kind of mark-making is complete magic to me!
In my work I like to create different worlds and explore the stories that take place within them.
Beech Grove is the most recent of these worlds (nothing to do with the T.V. show of the same name) and is a backdrop for a clothing range that is rolling over over the autumn in my shop: bigabandstore.com
Inspiration for my work comes from graphic novels, 20th Century art and old -school skate graphics. Think Daniel Clowes meets Claes Oldenburg meets Jim Phillips.”

Deck No.4 by Jo Burt

Jo Burt is an illustrator/cartoonist/colourer-in and sometimes word wrangler, who will do most anything you ask that involves pens and paint but mostly does stuff that involves scribbling bicycles. He’s been involved in the cycling media for over 30 years where he’s most famous for drawing a cartoon sheep… if you have to ask you wouldn’t understand. He lives at the base of the South Downs and is most likely found up there on some kind of bike or other, hasn’t been on a skateboard since 1977.

Deck No.5 by Jim Morrow A.K.A Creative Blaze

“After studying 2 Dimensional and 3 Dimensional Design at DE Montfort University, I spent several years working as a cabinet maker, but eventually returned to my original career in the sign industry. I now work as a designer and sign maker.
In my spare time, when I’m not skating I like to draw or carve interesting shapes and make things, like engraved wooden signs and furniture, mainly from sustainable or up-cycled materials.”

Jean is a tattooist originally from Australia now working at Magnum Opus tattoo in Brighton. He has over a decade of experience tattooing with crisp lines, bold colour and solid black.

“My work captures timeless moments of joy along the coastline, from sea swimming, bike rides and walks, I am interested in the landscapes of past industries and settling culture in high contrast along the timeless ebbing shoreline of the Island we live on, fuelled by abstract narrative and colour love of the gold waking and sleeping of the day of urban sea town and Sussex shores.”
Tiffany was born in Sussex, spent her early childhood West Indies, then returned to UK where she completed a BA HONS with First Class at Harrow School of Art and Design, followed by a Post Grad First Class HONS & MA from St Martins School of Art and Design.
Her career has spanned more than two and a half decades and she has exhibited all over the UK

Deck No.8 Hummingbird By Brian Martin

“I am a designer maker, usually working and building in wood, and I have a background in Industrial Design. I am inspired by nature and geometry and have a company creating biophilic garden rooms.
My artwork is made up of figurative pieces, mainly black pen on white, I enjoy the process of simplifying my subjects and the many changes that occur with each stage of the process.
Working in this geometric style allows me to take my illustrations into other media, I have enjoyed transferring them to screen print and inlaying into wood.
Previously my line work has been laser cut into skate decks, but this is my first full colour board.”

Ilona is a mixed media artist who produces colourful artwork, mainly of landmarks around the UK. She sells her artworks as greetings cards, prints and products in retailers around the world.
Ilona’s skateboard was inspired by movement, the surfaces and highlights she sees when skating herself.

Deck No. 12 – Skater Girl by Siobhan Purdy

Siobhan is an artist based in Cornwall. She is one of the pioneers of the Bookbinders Artist community in Redruth who later went on to become the founding members of Krowji, the largest creative hub in Cornwall.
She prefers to paint figuratively in oils. She has had many shows throughout England and currently shows at The Byre Gallery in Millbrook Cornwall.
As Siobhan sponsors her own up and coming Skater Girl Lola, she was pleased to decorate a board to help save Small Dole Skatepark.

“Wangdoodle, mainly right handed, mostly blind and a bit deaf. Lover of strawberries, beans on toast and colouring in to name a few.
Old enough to know better, young enough to remember, sometimes, I think? Spirit animal, house cat, or a poison arrow frog, a blue one. Normally found cutting, bashing, welding and tinkering with old VW’s. Would like more hours in the day, and bank holidays to be staggered throughout the year better. Outstanding at starting projects…, only introduced to avocados later in life. Milk 1st, don’t stir with a fork!

Deck No.19 by Dark Arts Skate A.K.A Adam Hogarth

Adam holds a B.A. Hons in fine art from Northumbria University, an MFA in Fine Art Printmaking from The Royal College of Art, and was a printmaking Fellow at the Royal Academy of Arts 2016 – 2020.
He has exhibited nationally and internationally, including the ICA, Royal Academy of Arts, William Morris gallery, Japan, Finland, New York and Serbia.
In 2020 he founded Dark Arts, a skateboard company specialising in hand screen printed boards and clothing.

My art signifies my passion for freedom of creativity. Coming from a background of artists I’ve always had a peak interest in art, and like me, my style and focus are always changing. Currently I’m experimenting with oriental Japanese styles mixed with graffiti and tattoo styles and I have hopes to be a tattoo artist.

Dan Holliday is the artist, designer and wizard at The Mangle Print Studio in London E10 which he helped establish in 1998 after graduating from The Royal College of Art.
He has taught at the The University of Arts, London, and Middlesex University.
Dan is the maker of painting, prints, posters, flyers, tees and all things screen print.
He has shown his work around London and Europe including The Royal Academy, Saatchi Gallery, Jealous gallery, Pure Evil Gallery and Deptford X.

Matt is a painter, based in Brighton combining abstraction and fine art; and a maker of ornamental woodcuts, mandalas, and the occasional bit of furniture. Matt paints mostly in acrylics on canvas using techniques such as marbling and acrylic pouring to create organic abstract forms, he also uses a more structured approach based loosely on geometric patterns to make a variety of backgrounds. With a B.A. Hons in Illustration from Falmouth College of Art, a clutch of children’s illustrated books and murals, a job as her father’s carpenter’s mate that funded an overseas diploma in events management and production, and a music career that spanned more than a decade… it’s really hard to know what Loy will make next?
This multifaceted creator painted this board, and built the gallery it’s hanging in, whilst simultaneously wishing she could get back to illustrating her graphic novel, and the other paintings she’s started…
She works mainly as a commercial artist & designer, and as a bespoke campervan builder at Kustom Revival. The Wandering Gallery is her working studio and newest venture.
Oh and then there’s skating. She loves roller skating! Especially in her happy place 🙂
