NHS Skate Break Gratitude Comic Strip
Early in 2021 I broke my left tibia and fibula in multiple places in a freak roller skating accident. The paramedics came to my rescue so fast and whisked me off to Worthing Hospital where I received incredible care and attention from A&E, the orthopaedic ward and Orthopaedic trauma team – Honestly, they blew me away! I spent five days in hospital having surgery to implant a titanium plate to pull my broken bones back together. In the weeks that followed there was little I could do but lie in bed and draw… I drew this comic strip, turned it in to cards and sent it to everyone who helped me. This healing journey continues even now, but this show of gratitude and the response it provoked has bonded my with my surgical team in a way that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I’m not skating again yet but it won’t be too long and I owe it all to them…
